About the Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating net new revenue from new client acquisition, maintaining strategic client relationships, and representing Business Wire in various capacities. You will make a significant contribution to our company's success by substantially growing the revenue in your assigned territory with a will to win.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate new revenue for Business Wire through new client acquisition and take ownership of your defined territory

  • Qualify inbound leads, conduct research and establish relationships with key decision makers throughout organizations

  • Lead a consultative sales approach with several touch points throughout the sales process to the close

  • Build a sales pipeline by cultivating prospects, creating new business opportunities and managing/expanding existing customer relationships.

  • Execute exploratory calls, conduct screen share presentations, as well as in person presentations.

  • Maintain and exceed quarterly and yearly sales goals.

  • Accurately track prospect and customer interactions in Salesforce.

  • Become a subject matter expert on Business Wire solutions and services.

  • Participate in professional PR and IR organizations (such as NIRI and PRSA) and events for the promotion of Business Wire and its services, sometimes outside of normal business hours

  • Communicate and engage on approved social media channels (such as LinkedIn and Twitter) to network with prospects/clients and champion Business Wire’s innovative products and services

What You’ll Need

  • BA/BS degree, or international equivalent, preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years outside sales experience closing new business required

  • Experience selling within public relations, investor relations, marketing, media, Fortune 1000 companies, and/or financial markets preferred

  • Proven success in managing all stages of the consultative sales cycle including prospecting, needs analysis, presentation, proposal, negotiation and closing

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals in past positions

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with clients across an organizational hierarchy, including executive level

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Exceptional time management skills displaying ability to manage multiple tasks with strict attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com

  • Excellent social media communication skills

  • Position requires a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage
